Welcome To Crouse Equestrian

Premier Dressage and Eventing Program In Asheville, NC

  • Lessons

Our lesson program is built around horsemanship, correct dressage and jumping fundamentals and a thriving community of all ages. We ride dressage, eventing and jumpers. Our program includes instruction in and out of the saddle for well rounded horseman and women.

Our pony program begins at age 4, and our regular lesson program at age 6. We have an active barn family with in house events, a team atmosphere and an active show program for all ages and levels.

  • Training

With a speciality in dressage, our training is based in natural horsemanship, correct biomechanics, classical dressage principles and a whole horse approach.

Whether your horse is young and is beginning their career, green and needs miles, needs a tune up, show/sale preparation or is looking for a program, our program is designed to give a strong foundation and skills that will give them a leg up for the rest of their career. Find our full list of training services below.

  • Boarding

Our stable is an ideal quiet location, only 12 minutes from downtown Asheville, with both an all weather sand riding arena and onsite trails. We have 12 by 12 matted stalls, and each horse gets individualized 5 star care with our small herd count. We offer small group turn out, and carry the highest quality hay and grain. Our barn is a wonderful low key environment with a welcoming barn family perfect for riders with a focus in dressage or eventing. Please note that we currently only do partial or full training board, which has the option for lesson packages.

Belle Crouse

Head Trainer and Owner

Hi, I’m Belle! I’ve been on a horse for longer than I’ve been walking. At 2 years old, I was climbing on my grandfather’s 18.1 hand Belgian named Boss, and crying every time I had to get off. My parents tried everything they could to redirect me to any other activity with no luck. The “horse girl” phase never left.

I have over a decade years of riding experience and 4 years of teaching experience.

I have a passion for bringing along green and young horses and developing them reach their full potential. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with riders from all ages and stages of life and help them reach their goals.

I am currently working towards my USDF Bronze Medal, preparing to enter the USDF L Program and bringing my young horses up the levels in dressage.

Reece Slater

Assistant Trainer and Barn Manager

Hi, I’m Reece! I had my first ride at three years old while vacation at Disney World and the horse girl bug hit me. I have been riding for 16 years and teaching for the last 2.

I attended Averett University with an equine focus before transitioning to an online program to be able to have more time in the saddle.

I enjoy teaching students from all walks of life as they learn all the ins and outs of horse care and training.

I have a passion for developing horses, especially young horses and OTTBs. I just bought my first horse in 2024 and am excited to bring him up the levels in dressage and eventing.

See What People Are Saying

My 7-year-old has grown so much during her months with Crouse Equestrian, and feels such a sense of accomplishment in her achievements! The instructors are warm and encouraging, as well as incredibly knowledgeable. They skillfully enforce a safe riding environment while at the same time providing independence needed to grow. My daughter looks forward to her lesson day all week!! The barn is also lovely, and the sweet lesson horses are so well cared for. I enjoyed watching her lessons so much that I decided to sign up for my own lessons! We’re so grateful to have found Crouse, and highly recommend!

Belle did amazing work with my mare. I had previously taken her to a different trainer and he caused more harm. I am very thankful for Belle being able to undo a lot of that damage and gain back her trust. I would recommend Belle to work with any horse she is truly amazing. The amount of effort she put in to keep me updated and the care she took of my horse was phenomenal! She even sent me some professional photos of her. Above and beyond is all I could say about the work Belle did.

Excellent lesson horses, knowledgeable & friendly instructor, gorgeous facility!

Updated: My daughter has been riding here for 6 months now and Belle is not only a consummate professional but an excellent role model for my 10 year old. My daughter did her first XC schooling under Belle’s instruction and Belle went above and beyond to ensure she had a positive experience. She Is constantly looking for ways to grow and enhance her students’ equestrian knowledge with newsletters, Horsemanship days, shows and new upcoming programs. Crouse Equestrian is top notch in WNC..

Belle is an exceptional trainer who has a deep understanding of horse behavior and of the horse mindset. Her years of experience riding and caring for horses, shows in her excellent understanding of each horse. Belle has helped my daughter develop her riding skills and confidence. Belle challenges her. Yet she is patient, calm, and caring. She is there to offer support and guidance throughout the entire lesson. We are very grateful to be working with her.
