December 2022 Stable View Eventing Academy Recap

Team Crouse took on the cold weather for Stable View’s December Eventing Academy. Each member absolutely worked their butt of this weekend. I was sick with a cold and recovering from sea urchin barbs in my foot (I should probably stick to riding and not surfing), and despite not feeling my best they made it such a fun and productive weekend for all!

Reece Slater and Cash took on their first full trial (for both of them) in the Sprouts division. Unfortunately Cash pulled his shoe on Saturday, so they were not able to have a practice ride, but both came out ready to take on anything on Sunday! They ended on a very respectable dressage score, and absolutely killed their SJ and XC divisions to come home with a 5th place! I love watching this team, and admire Reece for all her hard work balancing school in a different state and being so committed to make time to keep advancing with Cash.

Shelby Stewart and Beta Max got drug over to the eventing side from the jumper ring and found their groove in their Sprouts Trial! Ending on a 34.4 dressage score on their first EVER dressage test, running a beautiful clean SJ round and taking 2 seconds of time on XC brought them home 3rd in their first ever event! They make such a fun pair and it’s lovely to watch them learn together as a team.

Devyn Turner and Leia took on their first CT. Leia really wanted to run to her friends the entire weekend, and Devyn did an exceptional job redirecting her and bringing her confidence up. They put on a beautiful test of 34.4 and a clean SJ round with a little time to bring home 2nd!

Maddie Newsom and Rose took on their first trial in the Sprouts division as well. They ended on a beautiful 36.6 in dressage, and clean SJ and XC rounds. Rose can have some show anxiety we've been working through and Maddie supported her every step of the way and brought home 6th. Both Maddie and Rose can have some nerves on the XC course, and watching them come off with the biggest smiles and having an amazing run was a huge highlight of the weekend!

As always, so proud of my team and riders. What a great way to end the 2022 season. 2023 we’re coming for you!
